Blue lights of the stage on the bassoons for The Planets. Cool to play contra next at the end of the row of my current and further students. Two are playing their first paid gig!

D'addario has no love of C flat major, I guess.

I'm a little out of shape, so play testing and finishing 18 contra reeds today was a bit tiring.

Lots of reed orders in the last two weeks, from companies and individuals. I've been getting a little behind, with classes started back up for the last two weeks and this last week a kiddo home with a sinus and ear infection. But hopefully this weekend I'll have made good progress on somewhere around 150 different reeds in various stages of making (several bins of unwrapped blanks not shown in this picture). Oh yeah, and I have to grade aural skills exams.

Reeds are back for sale. Come get em while they're fresh. 😅

Giving this density testing thing a try.

About halfway through splitting my latest purchase. I apparently like to do this around Christmas/New Year's.

Just got my newest #bassoon hand crutch, made from the same block of olive wood my bell ring was made from. Beautiful figuring in the wood. It's considerably larger than I expected but very comfortable and sets my hand position very nicely.
