I made this chart a long time ago but never posted it to my website. Mostly these fingerings are considered standard in the USA, although we all have our own ways of doing things. Especially in the highest register there are multiple options so experiment and consult with a qualified teacher on how to best play notes above B-flat 4.

/ November 10, 2020Hi Trent! Do you have the lilypond source for the document? It would be great to be able to use it as a template for my fingering chart for my students. With proper attribution, of course. It is not that I don’t agree with your chart, but I want to have “preferred” fingerings and “acceptable” fingerings, due to me having students coming from many different schools.

/ November 10, 2020I haven’t ever used lilypond, I made this in Sibelius. However, the fingering diagrams I used were made with this tool: https://fingering.bretpimentel.com/ so I suggest you simply use the tool that Bret has made and export the diagrams as .png files for importing into your favorite publishing software.

/ November 10, 2020Oh, then I must have remembered wrong. I thought I saw a comment on reddit about lilypond, but I must have remembered wrong. Thanks for the chart! I have given it to some students that show up with wonky fingerings. It is a life saver.
